Hey there, world changer!
Oh, the process of letting go. I wish I could say it was always easy to let things go, but it sure isn’t (at least not for me!). Sometimes the process of letting go feels more like a wrestling match with God. But, can I tell you the encouraging part of letting go? There is always blessing and God’s goodness attached to the other end of it.
Let me first say that it is the will of God for you to walk free from burden and always moving forward. He doesn’t want you to be stagnant and/or stuck. Sometimes, there are seasons in our journey with Jesus that require us to purge old ways of thinking, old habits, old pain and relationships that have become outdated so that he can give us new things that bring forth fruit in our lives. Sometimes these seasons of purging require us to let go of everything. Just because something is “old” doesn’t mean it’s necessarily bad. Sometimes, God calls us to trade the good for even better. It’s hard, I know, but oh-so worth it.
Let me share a few encouraging things that have happened in my life as a result of letting go:
By letting go of things that no longer belong in my life, God has always given me what I need for the season I’m in now or what’s required for the journey ahead. Sometimes I find that the areas where I feel like I’m lacking, it’s because I haven’t allowed God to trade the old for the new.
By letting go, I have learned to truly put my trust in a loving God and put my hope in His character and nature — He’s a good, good Father.
By letting go, God has increased my faith. Sometimes, God calls us to blind faith moments where we have to put everything on the table. It’s like the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22. I’ve found that in those seasons, God has done infinitely, abundantly more than I could have ever comprehended or imagined.
My friend, if God is calling you to let something go, it’s because He has something better for you. Trust in Him and know that He has an incredible future waiting for you. Be strong and courageous as you move forward into all that He has for your life!
