Taste and see

Taste and see

When I was 22 years old, the Lord woke me up in the middle of the night and spoke to my heart, “Ashley, what are you doing? You have a high calling over your life.” In that moment, I had no clue what God was talking about, nor was I in a right relationship with Him. But, His words stuck with me and slowly I started discovering who He was. Back then, I was really hurting and couldn’t imagine life without the pain. Years later, I see God’s beautiful purposes unfolding and His goodness penetrates every area of my life.

I think it’s very difficult to know how good God is when all you know is what you know. If you have lived your entire life living a certain way, it’s really hard to know what your life could be. Could it be that we settle for what we know because we cannot imagine what true abundance and goodness in our lives look like?
Psalm 34:8-9 in the Message Bible says, “Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. Worship God if you want the best; worship opens doors to all his goodness.” Another translation says, “taste and see that the Lord is good.”

The Word of God says to taste and see. He wants us to run to Him to experience first-hand His goodness. Do not settle for what you know because there is much more for you in Jesus. Maybe you don’t know anything other than unhealth, disfunction, anxiety, depression, confusion or whatever it may be. But, in Jesus there is so much more for you!

You are chosen by the King of all Kings. There is no higher power, no other God, but Jesus. He loves you and has far more for your life than you could ever dream of or imagine. Taste and see that He is good!
