“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” [Romans 5:3-5]
How you respond and react in a storm will display your true self and character. When life is going well, you are standing on the mountain top, it’s easy to be joyful, be at peace, and show kindness to those around you. Because when you’re happy, you’re happy…and who doesn’t like to be happy? However, when circumstances turn for the worst and trials come your way, your response may not always reflect your best self. I can certainly pin point my worst moments when I reacted irrationally, however I am thankful for those moments because it helped me identify weak spots in my life. Allow storms to reveal and heal you rather than take you down. I truly believe it is possible to rejoice in the midst of storms simply because of what it produces in us – endurance, strength of character, and confident hope of salvation. Don’t forget we need strength from within in order for God to build our lives. Chin up, God has purpose for every storm you encounter and every trial and test does not go to waste!
