Sometimes good things take time

Hey there, world changer!

One of my good friends recently gave me an amazing book and one of the excerpts jumped out at me. (That’s when you know the Holy Spirit is trying to get your attention!) It read, “Why are we so afraid to be vulnerable and get honest with God? We seem to waste so much time trying to give Him a flawless performance, when what He really desires in our broken and honest heart.” You know, it’s really easy to get caught up in the rhythms of life, in the doing and miss what’s really going on in your own soul.

So one morning, I paused, took a deep breath, sat in the silence and poured out my heart, as is, to the Lord and let Him minister to me.

I found at that moment that there were things in my life that I thought would have happened by now and I found myself questioning God’s goodness and faithfulness. Don’t we all have things we’ve been praying on that we thought the breakthrough or miracle would have happened already?

At that moment, the Holy Spirit said, “Ashley, all fruit doesn’t grow at the same rate.” Very interesting…

I immediately did a google search and found out that berries usually grow the quickest. Strawberries take four to six weeks. Whereas, PawPaw trees, a unique native fruit, take five to seven years to grow!

So the lesson learned here is that sometimes, good things take time to develop in our lives. Not all fruit comes instantaneously.

As I laid out all of the things that I thought would have happened by now, God reminded me of the growth that has already taken place.

You see, God is faithful. His promises will never fail. But, it’s critical that we sit back and rest knowing that some of the answered prayers we are waiting on don’t always happen in our own timing.

Be encouraged and trust God. He knows what He’s doing, my friend.
