Hey there, world changer!
Have you ever heard the phrases, “don’t change for anyone” or “just do you”? Our culture is highly saturated in this type of thinking. While there is truth to some of these statements because of course, you should never change or compromise the core of who God created you to be for anyone or anything. However, it is unhealthy to allow this type of thinking to mask areas of unhealth in our lives that need to change.
As followers of Jesus, we have to be willing to allow God to mold our lives and give him permission to shape and grow us into all that he desires for us to be. It is not always easy, but the results are astounding.
I love the passage in Jeremiah 18 verses 3-4 that speaks of the potter and the clay: “So I went down to the potter’s house and saw him working with clay at the wheel. He was making a pot from clay. But there was something wrong with the pot. So the potter used that clay to make another pot. With his hands, he shaped the pot the way he wanted it to be.” This is a beautiful picture of how God molds our lives.
I think naturally as human beings there is resistance to change and personal growth, however, I encourage you to see the beauty in the process. God already knows who He created you to be. He knows how to form you into the best version of yourself. Give him permission. If you truly desire to fulfill every good thing he has lined up for your future, you’re going to have to embrace change and growth — and hey, that’s a good thing!
