Hey there, world changer!

We’re living in interesting times, aren’t we? Our world hasn’t seen a pandemic like this since the 1918 influenza pandemic. For a lot of people, this is a fearful time. But when our lives are rooted in Jesus, it doesn’t have to be. As Christians, our first response is prayer and we stand on the promises of God as absolute truth believing that he is our protection, strength, healing and the solution for every challenge or trial we face.

It really is in the challenging times and great sufferings of life that we look inward and ask questions. And, let me remind you, God is not intimidated by your questions. It’s actually really healthy for your spiritual growth. This is also a time for us to dig deep and position ourselves to hear from God. I do believe it is possible to come out of this season better than before, but we have to be intentional about how we steward our time and keep watch over the posture of our hearts.

In 1 Kings 19, there is a story of a great prophet named Elijah. At that time, he received a message from the queen that she was going to kill all of the prophets of God, Elijah being one of them. Out of great fear, Elijah ran for his life out of the city and into the wilderness. He fell into a deep depression and even became suicidal, but God met him at that moment. In verse 11, God said, ” Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” A great and powerful wind tore through the mountains, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. Finally, after the fire, came a gentle whisper. And it was in the whisper that God spoke to Elijah.

I love this story because it reminds me that it is in the quiet, restful and peaceful moments that God speaks. I encourage you to take some time today to pause, reflect on God and give him space to speak into your life. I believe he has something he wants to show you during this time that might just alter the course of your journey and draw you closer to him.
