Hey there, world changer!

If you were to examine your life as it is today, where is your focus?

Focus by definition means “the center of interest or activity, center of attention or focal point”. It also means “the state of quality of having or producing clear visual definition.”

I have an embarrassing story to tell you, but this is sadly 100% true. The other week, my husband and I were at the beach. I was covered in sand, head to toe, and I just wanted to get home and shower. I was driving, which rarely happens because my husband usually likes to drive us (for security purposes he says – haha!). As I got in the car and pulled onto the intersection, I saw a bee flying around in my car. Immediately, I swerved and jumped out of my car with the car in motion. In my panic, I could’ve nearly hit another car and the damage would have been terrible. OK, this is a little dramatic, I know. But, my point is that my focus went from driving my car and getting us home safely, to focusing on the distraction of a silly bee. Was it worth all the drama? Not exactly.

You see, your focus has everything to do with the direction you’re headed and the visibility you have for your future. I find that too often, we lack clarity for our futures when we’re sidetracked or distracted. (And, if I’m honest, it happens to me all the time!) You can be so focused on your own present circumstances or challenges that you miss out on the bigger picture of what God is doing. Or, you can be so focused on what other people are doing with their lives and comparing yourself that you miss out on the amazing things God is doing in your own life. Comparison certainly robs you of the joy that comes from embracing what God has for you.

When we take our eyes off of what’s going on around us and fix our attention on Jesus, it changes everything. Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages us — “Let us run with endurace the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith.”

Look up, my friend! Jesus is trying to get your attention and remind you that He has incredible things for YOU. But, will you take your eyes off of what’s going on around you and focus on Him?
