Hey there, world changer!

It’s a pretty incredible revelation to know that God never lets us go. Even in moments in my life when I couldn’t see him, feel or sense his presence, I look back and he was there all along, watching over me like the good, good father he is.

I’ll never forget when I was a little girl, probably five years old or so, I decided to run away from home. Who knows what was going on that day, perhaps I didn’t want to follow my mom’s rules or I got in a fight with my brother or sister, but either way, I felt like would be better if I were on my own. As I held back all of the tears, I looked at my mom and told her I’d be leaving for good. With love in her eyes, she gracefully helped me pack my backpack and handed me a ten-dollar bill to get some chicken nuggets at Burger King in case I got hungry. As I walked out the front door, my mom stood on our lawn and watched me march down the cul-de-sac. As I approached the end of the street, I looked back and saw my mom watching my every move. When I saw her standing there, I couldn’t help but run as fast as I could back home. And, she welcomed me with a big hug and told me she was happy I decided to come home where I belonged.

I think of that story and cannot help but think my mom’s posture that day is exactly like God’s. We may feel like life is too much from time to time and want to walk away, but he’s sitting right there watching us, never letting us go.

Psalm 139:7-12 says, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

Whether or not you’ve walked away from Jesus, the call on your life or maybe you’re just tired from the trials you’ve been through, I have good news. Your loving father is right there with you. You are found before you are lost.
