“Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” [Matthew 22:37]
When I first started walking with the Lord, I remember the fire and passion I felt. I thought about him all the time. Some mornings I would wake up with the Holy Spirit burning inside of me. There were nights I would fall asleep with a worship song playing over and over in my head. I was in love and all I wanted was more and more of Him. I remember those days and they are some of the sweetest days of my life — when the presence of God was all I could ever want.
Life happens. We go through seasons of healing. Seasons of hardship. Well, I guess you could say the real stuff happens. To keep that fire and passion going doesn’t always come naturally.
This morning I want to pray that the Lord would awaken a new burning desire to love him. Maybe you have been weary. Maybe your desires have shifted and He hasn’t been the one thing in your life you cling to. Let’s pray. Let’s ask God to change our hearts and give us a deeper love for His presence. Let that be your heart’s desire — to love the Lord with all your heart, with all of your soul, and with all of your mind!
“Father, I thank you for all that you’ve freely given us. We are infinitely blessed in you and all we need is found in Jesus. Your presence is what our hearts long for. Intimacy with you is the only thing that can fill us, for nothing in this world satisfies the way that you do. In Jesus name, would you give a fresh passion for your name. Would ignite a flame in our hearts so that they would burn for you alone? Help us to love you more. We ask in faith and know that there is nothing more you love to do than hear our prayers! We love you Lord!”
